New Drupal.org individual & organisation members in the UK over the past 10 years

4 August 2017

After the tweet above from Paul Johnson caught my interest, I started looking at the number of members reported on Drupal.org categorised under United Kingdom for both individuals and organisations. As there was data available from 2007, I wanted to see what this looked like over time.

I came to the conclusion that the only easy way to do this was with a spreadsheet for analysis. While I was at it I decided to make a graph too (and surprisingly learnt how to make complex graphs with Google Spreadsheets in the process).

Here is a screenshot of my results.

And here is the graph of new individuals & organisations, plotted against each year.

If you’d like to see my data, you can see my compiled spreadsheet on Google Sheets.

It’s worth remembering that the data for 2017 is only for a partial year. As we are approximately 2/3rd of the way through the year, we can forecast that this will be 9 new organisations and 5 new individuals by the year end.

If you are interested in seeing the full lists, here are the individual directoryand the organisation directory.

What do you think this data tells us?

I certainly know many individuals and organisations that are keen to support Drupal.org and are not yet members. Many business owners and individuals are still not aware that you can become a member, or the additional benefits that this can have for you in the community.

There is currently a campaign running for a membership certificate and today is the last day (unless it is extended). You can see the information here.

And if you haven’t already signed up as a member, don’t delay, become a member today.
